At a very early age, we used to sneak rides on the outside of these streetcars. We would try to go all the way to the lake, but we were usually noticed and chased off before we got there. It’s a wonder that none of us were ever hurt, or worse. I really hated to see those new fangled busses take over.
I never knew the streetcars in South Shore, but I remember riding one somewhere with my mother downtown as a very young boy.
Of course, in Toronto, we still have them, and they are a feature I’ve always had affection for.
