PHOTO - CHICAGO - AVALON THEATER - RESTORED AS NEW REGAL - PANORAMA OF LOBBY - 79TH STREET NEAR STONY ISLAND - EDITED FROM AFTER THE FINAL CURTAIN SITE

NOTE: Apart from other adjustments I’ve made to these images, I’ve darkened them a bit.

The New Regal, intended for live performance legitimate theater,  appears much better lighted than the old Avalon was, which I remember always as more mysterious than current photos show.

Arabian Nights was its original architectural concept, and it certainly reflected that in every aspect.

There are a number of other pictures – both vintage and modern – on my site of the Avalon. To see them use the search box at the bottom right of the page.
